my little baby

Z loves the swing!

Z had her 9 month checkup today. The dr. measured her wt, ht & head size. The ht and head size were still on the low side, but her wt had gone all the way to single digit percentile. 7%. That pretty much means out of 100 babies her age, 93 of them weight more than she does. At 16 lbs, she actually gained more than 1 lb in the 10 days since her roseola outbreak. Hopefully next time we'll get back into the double digit percentile. Mommy doesn't mind you being trim, baby Z, but don't be too skinny now.

New Teeth!

Z has been waking and crying in the middle of the night for the past week. Last night when I was washing her mouth I found the reason....she's got more teeth!! Poor baby, mommy didn't know. Well at least now the teeth have come out she's sleeping better. They don't seem to bother her as much. One curious thing though, it looks like she's getting the two canines on top(instead of the front bunny teeth.) Let's see what it will look like when they're fully out!

Z's first long trip! Part 1

Z's dad still has extended family in taiwan so we decided to visit them before it gets too hot and Z gets too mobile. I had read other moms' blogs on traveling with little ones, but everyone's experience varied. Some described it as a nightmare, with their arms about to fall off after holding the baby for 10+ hours straight; while others had a relatively easy time. All I could to was to pray that Z was nice to mommy!
Since Z's dad was only taking a week off, we decided it was best that I leave early with Z so that we could have a little more time there. Z's grandma worked it so that we could fly out with her. It made me feel alot better knowing that I'll have someone to look after Z (even for just a while) so I can at least go to the bathroom (without worries!) during the 11 hour flight.
Our flight departed at 1:30 am, way past Z's regular bedtime. Z seemed pretty excited about staying up and was happy at the airport. Even after we boarded she stayed up for awhile and played before she totally passed out! I put her in the bassinet in front of our seat and she stayed asleep there (while I played Super Mario!) until we came across a little turbulance and the stewardess insisted that I took her out and held her on my lap. Z stayed on my lap for the rest of the trip and was awake a few times. It was an uncomfortable position for her because the arm rests couldn't be lifted so her head and her feet were pushing against them. Nevertheless we both managed to squeeze in a few hours of rest. During her waking hours we took walks up and down the aisles. The stewardess in our area really took a liking to Z. She also has two small kids of her own and we spent alot of time having baby talks.
Well, before we knew it we were be served breakfast and counting down to the last hour of flight time! I was so proud of Z for being so good!

Friendly Visit

Z was taking care of business here...push baby!!

Last week Z had visitors from overseas. One of my friends from junior high and her son met us up in town. Two cars seats and three adults squeezed into a little sports car. A little tight but I said no problem it's only a 20 min drive. Hmm.....it turned out to be a REALLY, REALLY BAD IDEA!!

We quickly learned our lesson and changed our plan to somewhere closer...we ended up in Pasadena.

Easter Sunday

After snacking her way thru church. Z did well, she was the only baby that lasted thru the whole service.

This was the 1st Easter for Z. Since we spent last Easter at Grandma's, I thought it would be fun to do it again this year.
The last service we attended at this church was last year's Easter service, so I didn't know if they had an Easter egg hunt. I thought it would be fun for Z to see one, even though she wouldn't actually participate. Two days before we had planned to go to an egg hunt in our town (organized by our playgroup,) I was more excited to take pics of Z's reaction to the Easter bunny, however....I couldn't find the park!!! After driving around for 10 mins and went to two empty parks, Z finally had it and started to fuss so I gave up the search. Oh well it just wasn't meant to be. Better luck next year.

Try Harder

New year resolution-documenting Z's growing days...
Today's date-April 9, 2009
number of blog entry-1......

So, ok I'll try harder.
........................................................blog entry #2!!!.....................................................................

As soon as Z hit 6 months, it was like a switch got flipped on in her head. Two days after her 6 months bday, all of sudden she decided she should start pulling up, standing around, growing teeth and calling me mama. And that's what she did.

Z was really stingy with her smiles. She still only smiles for people she knows, with the occasional newbies. Lately, we see her smile more and more often. And we love it. See, isn't it a beautiful smile?

Still can't believe March is already here....Baby Z will be 6 months old in 3 days!!! That's just so crazy!! I still remember her sticking her foot in between my ribs whenever I buckled up and drove...
