Gardening trip

Z and I made a stop at lowes for plants and soil for the school garden.  Z had picked out the picture herself.  It was fun having her look for the plant with picture; we were looking for a long purple plant AND we found it!

Z was very proud.

Then we waked thru the edible section and smelled and tasted the herbs.  Can't wait to have our place and grow our garden together.

My favorite way to wake up

Today Z woke up before I did.  I could hear her playing with her toys and going to the next room.   A few moments later she came back with this:

"Mommy look! I made this for you"  She went on to point out all the animals and colors.  They are also under a rainbow.   She also told me she drew me a smiley face on the top right corner.
"Mommy I draw this for you because I love you."  She wrapped her little arms around my neck and kissed kissed kissed.
"Are you happy mommy?"
"Yes baby, thank you so much."
"Show me your happy face."
I smiled with my eyes still closed.
"Show me your teeth"
"Mommy I'm going to draw teeth for you."  She ran back to the other room.  Another few moments laster she came back with this:

I was told this is baby bunny.

Another bunny.

My favorite way of waking up.

A wedding at our house

Before bedtime tonight, Z was busy putting together a wedding-for Princess Snow White Chip and Princess Puppy.  They had the pony and bird in a zebra car as attendants.

A picture of the happy couple.

The boxes are presents for the wedding.

Z officiated the wedding while creepy looking uncle dancing rat looked on.

She was one busy little lady!  Soon after she also played the guitar and provided music for this festive occasion.

To celebrate, we tested out the new ice cream maker.  Z and I made strawberry ice cream with fresh strawberries, cream and some agave.  10 mins later, Voila!

Taste tester Z

It's a go!

SOOOOO yummy

Z also designed a cake for the happy couple. With her name on it.

After roughly 3 weeks of reading at her gymnastics practice, waiting in the car and occasional bedside, I finally finished Bossy Pants.  Enjoyed it thoroughly.  Lots of dry, sarcastic humor, just the way I like it!  One of my favorite chapter is probably the prayer she wrote for her daughter:

First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches.
May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the the Beauty.
When the Crystal Meth is offered,
May she remember the parents who cut her grapes in half
And stick with Beer.
Guide her, protect her
When crossing the street, stepping onto boats, swimming in the ocean, swimming in pools, walking near pools, standing on the nearby subway platform, crossing 86th Street, stepping off of boats, using mall restrooms, getting on and off escalators, driving on country roads while arguing, leaning on large windows, walking in parking lots, riding Ferris wheels, roller-coasters, log flumes, or anything called “Hell Drop,” “Tower of Torture,” or “The Death Spiral Rock N’ Zero G Roll featuring Aerosmith,” and standing on any kind of balcony ever, anywhere, at any age.
Lead her away from Acting but not all the way to Finance.
Something where she can make her own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes
And not have to wear high heels.
What would that be, Lord? Architecture? Midwifery? Golf course design? I’m asking You because if I knew, I’d be doing it, Youdammit.
May she play the Drums to the fiery rhythm of her Own Heart with the sinewy strength of her Own Arms, so she need Not Lie With Drummers.
Grant her a Rough Patch from twelve to seventeen.
Let her draw horses and be interested in Barbies for much too long,
For Childhood is short — a Tiger Flower blooming
Magenta for one day –
And Adulthood is long and Dry-Humping in Cars will wait.
O Lord, break the Internet forever,
That she may be spared the misspelled invective of her peers
And the online marketing campaign for Rape Hostel V: Girls Just Wanna Get Stabbed.
And when she one day turns on me and calls me a Bitch in front of Hollister,
Give me the strength, Lord, to yank her directly into a cab in front of her friends,
For I will not have that Shit. I will not have it.
And should she choose to be a Mother one day, be my eyes, Lord,
That I may see her, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 a.m., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back.
“My mother did this for me once,” she will realize as she cleans feces off her baby’s neck.
“My mother did this for me.” And the delayed gratitude will wash over her as it does each generation and she will make a Mental note to call me. And she will forget.
But I’ll know, because I peeped it with Your God eyes.
Amen.

A very busy weekend 04/14-15 2012

To think just a week ago the temperature was in the 50's, it was kinda amazing how beautiful the weather has been in the last few days.  Of course we took full advantage of this not too hot, not too cold weekend to  , what else? Going to fairs and amusement parks!

So Saturday we head out to the annual youth fair at the fair ground.  It felt like yesterday when I took Z with our playgroup to the same fair last year.  Too bad I forgot my phone AND a camera so there's no picture.  I will always have the mental pictures in my head of Z riding the pony eating waffles with ice cream getting a kiss from a sheep watching newborn piggies making paper hats walking thru the garden learning the names of veggie and fruit plants making music dream catcher visor girl scout flag....

Sunday:

Our Sunday began with church.  The church still had decorations up from Easter so Z naturally wanted a picture with the pretty butterflies.

Strike a pose~

Lunch in the car while on our way to Legoland. Yup I love Legoland (for Z) and determined to get my money's worth.

Told her to smile

Instead I got this.  Z loves to make silly faces lately when getting her pictures taken.

One of her favorite ride.  AND first time on the ride BY HERSELF.  At first she was hesitant until she saw a few boys riding by themselves.

So much fun!!!

Our other love at Legoland: Apple fries with caramel cream sauce!!  Z completed melted down once when we were sharing one, since then we always get our own.  One for Mommy, one for Z.  No more fighting!

On this day there were a small group of Star War characters hanging around the Star War lego scenes.  There was also a band playing music from the movie.  Z didn't know who Princess Leia was but as soon as we told her she is a "princess", Z became very interested.  After we took this picture Z asked  why this princess didn't wear a pretty dress.....

Driving a boat...Z was #7

Successfully docked at the port!

Z heard music from NYC and started dancing.

Z doing homework under DV's (yeah, we are that tight) supervision

Time to drive!  Love that there was no wait

Z surprisingly was a great driver.  She was the only one completing 3 laps while all other vehicles were tangled amongst themselves or ramming repeatedly in into the sidewalk.

while we waited for the last ride Z made me a castle.  I have to constantly remind myself to soak up the moments when all the creative outlets are dedicated to me.

The nearby flower field is officially open and spring is officially here.

For dinner, we had fresh seafood at Pelly's Fish Market.  This is a BYOB place and the staff are super helpful and friendly.  Love the calamari in the picture.

Spring is here.  That means Easter, the return of farmers market (yay!), baseball season (2x yay!) and nicer weather for fairs!  Last weekend we came to the OC fair ground for the Youth fair which was alot of fun!  This weekend was the annual Pet Fair.  We love seeing all the animals!!

We were greeted by the lama lama red pamaja by the door.

And baby piggies.

Once we made it inside the exhibition hall, it was doggies galore! This was a grandma doggie.

So was this one.  She was older than CoCo!  Looking so good!

Z participated in the reading to dogs program.  After she got to take the Curious George book home.

His name was Henry.  I don't think he changed position or opened his eyes at all when we were there.  He did hold paws with Z when I scratched his tummy.

The book was all done!  Z cuddled with Henry.

Z read her book to another doggie.  This one is a very nice Whippet.  I didn't know that they are low-shedding and don't smell.  And like to lounge.  Z made herself very comfortable here.

This pup had a hat, wig and doggles on.  And posed.  What a good doggie!

The Iam's Jump show was very fun.  We got to watch different types of dogs do Frisbee tricks.  The trainer dude was way too excited and too loud though.  Other than leaving half deaf I really enjoyed the show.

We made it our mission to visit the kitty cats when here.  It was a chilly day and these two cuddle buddies looked so cozy.

It was very neat to find mommy and baby cats.  Lately Z has been into pretending to be baby kitty cat.  These two were nursing and Z thought it was funny.

Baby Tiger!!  Why are you drinking a Coke?

After we left the fair, it was time for dinner!  What better to eat in a cold dark Sunday afternoon than a bowl of hot ramen in broth??

Very tasty tonkatsu ramen @ Ramen Yamadaya

Juicy and Tender Kaarage.
